The chair for Computer Graphics at Saarland University was found by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Philipp Slusallek. It is known for it’s works in the research areas of Ray-Tracing and Multimedia.
Ray-Tracing is especially suited for distributed parallel computation and interactive photo-realistic visualization of highly complex virtual 3D-environments. Employing a rigorous restructuring of the Ray-Tracing method with respect to parallelization and by exploiting modern processor hardware, Ray-Tracing could be used to interactively visualize large scale CAD scenes.
Moreover the lab does research and development in distribution, middleware and high-performance computing.
