Cloud-based Rapid Elastic Manufacturing
The European H2020 research project CREMA (Cloud-based Rapid Elastic Manufacturing) aims at the innovative combination of cloud computing and XaaS (Everything-as-a-Service) for highly flexible, resource-efficient coordination of service-based industrial manufacturing processes in distributed and dynamically changing environments.
A vision of cloud manufacturing is to coordinate all physical and digital components involved in the flow and optimization of production processes as services in a (federated) cloud and to scale them in real time. The dynamic adaptation and optimization of service-based production processes in the cloud at design time and runtime is made possible, in particular, by the integrated use of AI, semantic technologies, services computing, and business analytics.
The main contributions of the Intelligent Information Systems (I2S) research team to the cloud-based CREMA platform were
- CDM-Core: The worldwide largest, publicly available manufacturing domain ontology in OWL2 for maintenance and production
- ODERU: Innovative solution for the optimization of semantic service-based process models in BPMN at design time and runtime with industrial use cases in the automotive and metal processing industries
